HAM

Ham is a DSH, estimated to be born around 2013/2014. She is currently a resident of our shelter. She was abandoned in a park in 2016, and has been taken care of by Hajar ever since.

Ham is a very calm and peaceful cat. She loves attention from people and answers to Hajar when she is spoken to. While living in the park, Ham would come running for attention (and snacks) the moment she saw Hajar walking up. Contrary to her love of people, Ham is what we consider to be independent when it comes to socializing with the other cats in the shelter. She does fine with the others, but due to her peaceful nature, she prefers to spend her time outside of the group.

Ham would be very well suited to a home as either an only cat, or with 1 or 2 other cats that she could get her space from if needed.

Update, December 1st, 2022: we had not seen Ham on our tours for a while and started to get nervous for her. When she finally did show back up, she was dirty, thin, and had lesions on her ears and nose (see photos at the end of slideshow). It was obvious to us that if we did not intervene, Ham would not have much time left. So, we scooped her up and took her home.

The vet diagnosed her with cancer on her ears and nose, which is common in white cats that live outdoors (especially in sunny Morocco). We acted quickly, and had the cancer surgically removed. Consequently, Ham no longer has her ears (but can still hear fine). Fortunately, the surgery seemed to have been a success! Ham has perked up, put the weight back on, and is doing great!
